When we moved to Kentucky, we were told that it does not get cold here but we found it to be otherwise. This year it snowed a lot in US!

Vandana's Baby Shower

We - Apala, Sayantani, Shilpi and myself arranged a surprise Baby Shower party for Vandana on the evening of 18th Jan. Although we do not know all the appropriate rituals properly, we did what we thought best! We had a great time.

Welcome 2008

The party was hosted at Highland Post on Bardstown Road. The hall was very well decorated with festoons, banners and balloons. Saurabh was the compere and had dressed up in attire which reminded us of 'Anthony Gonsalves'!!!

There was a dancing round for the couples called Paper Dancing. It started with 12 couples taking the dance floor with lot of enthusiasm. Amlan Chakrabarty & Debarchana and Dr. Arun & Neera Umath were the finalists with the latter managing to win! Congratulations to Dr. & Mrs. Umath. Also kudos to Amlan & Debarchana for putting up a stiff fight inspite of Debarchana's situation!

There was also entertainment galore for the guests! It started off with 2 dance numbers from Payal & Shyamali, followed by a medley of Bengali & Hindi songs by Apala, Shibani, Shrabana, Anal, Mithun and Surojit. Next we were treated to some wonderful songs by Partha & Mili Mukherjee. Then Apala song a wonderful Hindi song followed by Surojit who sang 'Aa chal ke tujhe'. Finally we had Kumar Ranjan singing several hit numbers which had everyone on dancing. In-between Ranjan, Sukhen De sang a couple of nostalgic numbers. We also had a bhangra dance performance by Kaushik Sen as did Raja who amazed everybody with his dancing. The dancing and singing reached a crescendo at midnight when everybody hit the dance floor together.

The dinner spread was fantastic with a sumptuous Chinese spread. There were 4 items in starter followed by a 4 course main dinner. The New Years party was huge success with a large number of people attending the event. Thanks to Rom-da & Raju-da for organizing a fabulous party!

Midnight Jalsa

We started our adda at our house around 6.30 p.m. and continued quite late into the night. Around 11 p.m. everybody was getting ready to leave when Saurabh suggested that we have Kichudi for dinner. Apala suggested that we now go to their house for dinner. Saurabh suggested that we have Pizza for dinner. We then went to Apala-Surojit's house. It was also their anniversary so we celebrated it with a Pizza Party! Surojit ordered wonderful Pizzas from Papa John while they cut a cake and we celebrated with a 'Anni' song and all round clapping!



After the party we sat down to a round of singing with Surojit on the guitar....
